The new MDM Direct Reading Digital Gem Spectroscope provides all of the advantages of the Challenger in a very cost effective package. Like the Challenger, one can scan a gemstone’s spectra from 380-750 nm and record the position of the absorption features with an accuracy of 1 nm. The B&W video camera and monitor to increase visibility of absorption features that cannot be detected by the human eye is now standard on the MDM as is the ability to scan into the near infra-red to 1000 nm.

The new MDM is far superior to a hand spectroscope and is very quick and easy to use. It takes the guesswork out of gemological spectroscopy and is available for $1600.
